Salvete.
My liberal friend watched the FOX response, and I've tuned in to the Tea Party's response. It's interesting that the SOTU highlighted everything that America has done, bathing in its own glory and nothing else. The Tea Party is doing a little bit of that same old game, but it is also noting the problems in America, while noting the goals for the Tea Party to solve those problems. Finally, some alertness and action.
My liberal friend apparently is focused on the fact that the woman of the group is placed on a sofa, while the men are placed on chairs...

#SOTUchat Thoughts
Apparently, the circus act is not over yet. A blind, eager, young audience is ready to listen to government officials suck up to the president and endlessly sing his praises.
I'm hearing the factual equivalent of silence. There is nothing that Democrat politicians wouldn't say; there is no fact, only fluff. Very few Republican conservatives seem to be present.
This is propaganda. Videos, lavish praise, political celebrity appearances, and the second "first" annual "Big Block of Cheese Day..." It means little to nothing.
The main topic is schools, for teachers and students. Everyone is demanding the government to intervene, to do something. They demand benefits, and they demand that the government fix their problems. The government should step out. They should lower scholarships and lower tuition costs. That way, the government cannot use the school as an instrument of economic redistribution.
Wow, John Green did a cameo in one of those pictures. I have respect for him as a scholar, but I don't approve of the use and manipulation of celebrities for nationalist and governmental propaganda. It was still Mr. Green's choice, though, and I respect his choice to volunteer (or accept the role) for his part.
Ah, worker's rights now. Fantastic; all that we need is for government is to barge into the economy to rescue the poor, helpless worker. This gets applause? Why should any of this get applause?
Detroit. Fun. Yet another demand for government intervention.
Aaaaaaaaand deportation. "Immigration reform." Golly, is there a single question that does not favor Democrats? I would have loved to see a Tea Party member in the mix. That would spice things up.
Minimum wage. Fun. We wouldn't need to increase the minimum wage if we stopped printing money endlessly.
The National Catholic Social Justice Lobby. On the minimum wage. Yikes. When the church gets brainwashed by leftist politics, the clock starts ticking on the conservative movement. Hold steady, conservative leaders of the church!
"Is the energy strategy working?" I'll answer. No. We've wasted tons of money for very, very little energy. Tens of businesses were closed. Yet these folks will answer "yes," with a bogus explanation using statistics manipulated for their own purpose. We are losing the economic war to China bit by bit partially through energy, but at least we are the "leader" of green energy! No, climate change is not an indisputable fact.
I will formulate my thoughts sometime soon; as for now, I'm responding to the questions as they go.

State of the Union Thoughts: False Accomplishments
Salvete.
Well, I turned on the State of the Union speech, and all I'm hearing are false accomplishments. I'm listening right now, and I'm groaning from a tedious list of "achievements" of the United States in the Middle East. Stuff like Syrian democracy, Iranian nukes, peace talks between Israel and Palestine, et cetera. It seems like every other sentence, the audience bursts out in applause. This man doesn't deserve half the applause he gets.
Whoa, did the audience just applaud a veto? That's never happened in ages, if ever. Golly, Jackson used a veto sparingly and was declared a tyrant. This president can get away with murder, particularly the murder of
Now the mention of the Winter Olympics, and propagandistic "U-S-A." Oh, the blind nationalism...
And, not to be outdone, Obama puts Obamacare in the spotlight, giving a touching anecdote and recieving a blind round of applause. As Americans, we must have lost our political dignity and our sanity. Obama is manipulating the audience, not reporting the cold, hard facts. I hope that he would note the difficult times and the bad things that are happening in America. I might have just a tad more respect for him.
Ah, Cory. Congrats, and thank you for your service. You deserve the most applause. That being said, you are a distraction, a tool by the United States government used to distract the American populace and run out the clock. Obama is already using you.
No, America. You have not accomplished anything. We remain a nation of dignity and honor, but we gain nothing in our society. Don't let the words of a silver-tongued politician fool you.
And, well, that's it. God Bless America, everyone. We desperately need a blessing.

Let's Go Right for the Big Topics: Abortion and Gay Marriage
Salvete. I've joined an intense theological/political discussion group, and the argument of choice is homosexuality, where it comes down to Christians versus atheists. Since the Republicans and Democrats are both zeroing in on the abortion topic, I thought I might as well tackle both issues at once today. Let's start with homosexuality.
This is what I believe the United States government should do. It should make an amendment, a corollary to the First Amendment, stating that the United States government cannot be involved in the definition of marriage. There are several reasons why this wording is best to solve the problem. First, it limits the power of government, which as of now we cannot limit enough. Second, it transfers the power to the institutions of marriage: churches, temples, et cetera. No church will be forced to marry a couple against their will. Third, it will still allow for debate without endorsing either side.
Like I've said before, I personally do not support homosexuality, but I see no point in the government enforcing either side of the debate. My plan is practically the farthest the government can go before endorsing homosexual affirmative action.
Now for abortion. The argument for the left is that abortion is a woman's choice and that the baby is not actually alive, anyway. Note for the left: whether or not an organism is self-conscious or has a spinal cord does not determine life. Bacteria are living creatures, and babies are far more complex than that. So yes, it is life. Aborting life is murder. Now, if you're okay with that, you should also have to be okay with capital punishment, euthanasia, and perhaps even genocide.
It seems like there is a clear alternative to abortion that apparently no one has thought about: adoption facilities. You are taking a baby's life, when that baby could potentially become a great contribution to society. You would be free of cost, free of responsibility or obligation, et cetera. You ask any orphan whether or not their life was worth living, and I believe that they will almost unanimously say "Yes." I don't care if it "overpopulates" the world; it's not murder.
Those are my personal opinions. I hope to blog more often.

Five Minute Study: George Tsunis
Salvete. Well, I'm back, after about two months off. I figured that I might begin the new year with a rant about George Tsunis, the new ambassador to Norway. He doesn't know a thing, and Senator John McCain proved this. Wow, out of all the people who would do research on Norway, I would least expect McCain. Still, it was good thing that he brought it up, and I'm impressed that McCain mentions a coalition (which is accurate for countries like Sweden and Norway). I would rather talk about Tsunis's response.
Tsunis should know precisely the answers to McCain's questions. He should know the ins and outs, the ups and downs of Norwegian politics. He should speak at least rough Norwegian, and have a general knowledge of the culture. Does Tsunis know any of this? My guess is no. So, to prove how utterly pathetic and incompetent of an ambassador Tsunis would have to be to screw up this badly, I am going to do five minutes of research on Norwegian politics and formulate an answer in retrospect. I will assume the role of the liberal that he is, before making my own conservative response afterward.
Here I go.
Website I used for my response:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/no.html
"Well, Senator McCain, although the Norwegian people have in fact elected a number of Progress Party candidates to the Parliament, the total is only about sixteen percent of the total votes. I believe that, in comparison with the leftist Labor Party and the Conservative Party (both of which have more candidates than the Progress Party), the Progress Party should have relatively little influence. So, although I condemn their actions, I do not believe that they will have as much sway as other members in the center-right coalition and will not tilt the government that much towards their goals."
Now, here is my response, based on my own knowledge and research:
"The center-right coalition is on the rise not only in Norway but across Scandinavia and (to a lesser degree) all of Europe. Although some of these groups are heavily nativist and far more radical, they represent only one aspect of the politically diverse center-right coalition. Be it the Moderaterna of Sweden or the Conservative Party of Norway, the power players of the center-right coalition are promoting basic conservative policies, such as business growth and lowering the high taxes of Scandinavian countries. I believe these are the noble goals that will take the center stage in politics, and I believe the people of Norway have made the right choice in their elections.
Maybe I should be ambassador to Norway. I am more qualified after five minutes' research.
